New Field:Computer Forensics
Living in the United States has its risks, one such risk is that of getting sued. a year ago i got issued a “citizens” ticket, heck it cost me almost a thousand bucks but the experience is always worth, when getting sued information is a very big deal. Because the truth is “relative” and getting the most easilly verified data would do a lot for your case. Nowadays most data is digital. And getting Data which may have been deleted from hard drives is not a task for a novice, as you can attest to if you have have had to recover data from a formatted disk.
The art of recovering data for the sake of presenting it as evidence is known as Computer Forensics , some sites now perform such activities include datachasers.com. the funny thing about datachaser is that they also wipe out Data (my, my talk about the power of the dollar), computer forensic is the science of identifying, recovering, extracting, preserving, and documenting ESI (Electronically Stored Information) so that it can be presented as evidence in a court of law.
You could even get trained to be a certified forensics expert , for some reason i do not trust most experts. they seem to speak depending on which side they are on. On one particular data recovery case a party claimed that the data had been erased. An expert then claimed that data cannot be erased (true) but he did not mention that it could be over written. Any comments on this? It would be interesting to hear from a real forensics expert on this case.
