Acer Owns Packard Bell

Reading through tons of useless junk (like i always do) in order to get some sense of where the world is going, and discovered that Packard bell is owned by Acer! All this is very interesting especially since i am shopping for a new laptop.. Now if you know anything about shopping for electronics you will know that shopping for a new notebook is relatively difficult, my Trusty Dell Latitude (yours is not here) is showing extreme signs of wear and tear and i thought of picking up another Dell (unfortunately, mine was not there) just to discover that Dell may not be the place for the Deal of the century.

Over i roll to New Egg and bingo! Gateways and Acer’s start pouring from the sky, since one of my friends once bought (and wrote about) a Packard Bell i decided to investigate whether the most consistent builders of low cost note books had finally stopped blockading the U.S market from its products, alack ; it seems they are still not interested in the United States and are located in their entirety in Europe.

But things got more interesting, it seems Lenovo had offered to buy our erstwhile PC maker and Acer countered that they owned the rights of first refusal on any offer, and according to this article here, Packard Bell is now owned by the Acer company of Taiwan!

The most interesting part is that Acer acquired this rights by buying Gateway computers for 710 million kodonka’s in 2007, all this said. i will probably end up with an Acer or a Gateway (but that Toshiba looks awful nice don’t it), you can mosey over to our store over here if you are interested in some Notebooks yourself.
